The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty if we are strong—yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”
He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
For this is what the LORD says: “When Babylon’s seventy years are complete, I will attend to you and confirm My promise to restore you to this place.
An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

I thought that age should speak, and many years should teach wisdom.

For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. . . .
When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?”
