Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, calling on His name.’
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. Those who embraced his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to the believers that day.

He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Paul explained: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. . . .

But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

and to illuminate for everyone the stewardship of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.
But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God,
But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
You believe that God is one. Good for you! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
As you can see, a man is justified by his deeds and not by faith alone.
Brothers, as an example of patience in affliction, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, into which the beast and the false prophet had already been thrown. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates.
For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.
What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer? Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. . . .
