Houses and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

A wife of noble character, who can find? She is far more precious than rubies. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he lacks nothing of value. She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. . . .

Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as a delicate vessel, and with honor as fellow heirs of the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

The LORD God also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper.”

Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good to abstain from sexual relations. But because there is so much sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife. Do not deprive each other, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may devote yourselves to prayer. In the same way, the women must be dignified, not slanderers, but temperate and faithful in all things.

And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.

Her husband is known at the city gate, where he sits among the elders of the land.
