Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. He will not be put to shame when he confronts the enemies at the gate.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.

Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
